We are pleased to provide you information regarding our diagnostics services.

Plant diagnostic services from Chase Horticultural Research. We are currently accepting specimen samples of ornamental plants from the contiguous United States ONLY. Clients from Hawaii and Alaska can obtain a diagnosis through email images and personal consultation at a reduced cost. (Please click here if you are a Hawaii or Alaska client.)

Shipping Instructions: Click on diagnostic submission form below, follow shipping instructions and submit all 5 pdf pages (which are REQUIRED with your sample(s))

We suggest using standard overnight service (e.g UPS, DHL, FedEx) for delivery Monday through Friday (no Saturday deliveries) to the address below. DO NOT SEND VIA US POSTAL SERVICE. Samples are cultured the next business day and preliminary results (phone/fax/email) are usually available within 7 days. Please include your address, phone and fax numbers and email address so we may contact you with results.

Basic diagnosis including control strategy for fungi, bacteria and viruses is $100.00 per sample. Additional services are negotiated as needed. We recommend using other diagnostic services for tissue and soil analysis.

Collecting a Water Sample for Pathogen Analysis
1. Collect a total of one liter of water in small batches (100-200 ml) over a fifteen minute period.
2. Take a 250 ml (16 oz) sample from the larger volume making sure it is well stirred before.
3. Keep water samples in the dark (wrap with foil) and in a cooler to protect them from heat that could promote reproduction of any water molds (Pythium and Phytophthora) or in extreme cases destroy spores.
4. Try to take the sample early in the day that it is to be shipped-use overnight shipping only. If you cannot ship the same day, then keep water in a refrigerator until shipping.
