![]() African Violet Botrytis Blight: on African violet appears on flowers, leaves and even stems near the soil. The fungus, B. cinerea, on African violet can be controlled by heating the greenhouse to reduce relative humidities at dusk. Powdery Mildew: on African violet has been around for years. It is very transient and under most conditions, fungicides are not used to control it. Symptoms include white, powdery fungal growth mainly on leaf tops in round spots. |
![]() Begonia Botrytis Cutting Rot: is a common disease on many flowering crops such as potted Begonia. The blighted flower can collapse and the fungus invades the stems below. Botrytis can be especially damaging on cuttinns. Xanthomonas Leaf Spot: shown here on Rex Begonia, can start on very small plugs. Spots are sometimes bordered by leaf veins giving them an angular shape. They may have a bright yellow margin and can merge to affect large areas. |
